The Blue-spotted Salamander (Ambystoma laterale) has a colouring similar to the enamelware pots and dishpans (flecks and spots of white and blue on a bluish black background). When threatened it will hold its tail up over its body. There are glands in the tail that will secrete a milky noxious liquid that may thwart certain predators.
